WGC partners with various associates for 'Akshaya Trithiya'

World Gold Council today said it has partnered with various organisations like India Post and Muthoot Pappachan Group to provide options to consumers for investing in gold this Akshaya Trithiya.


''Akshaya Trithiya'', which ranks as one of the most important festivals in the Indian calendar falls on the May 6 this year, is considered one of the most auspicious periods to buy gold, WGC said is a statement here.


"Gold has been a time-tested secure asset class and for any investor it is one of the best performing assets. Indians have always had an affinity towards gold and with time gold has transformed itself to becoming an integral part of every locker," WGC Managing Director, India and Middle East, Ajay Mitra said.


As a part of this festive extravaganza, WGC has partnered with its various associates to promote options for consumers to invest in gold, it said.


One of them is India Post where 700 post offices across the country offering investors exclusive Swiss made gold coins with 0.5 grams gold coin absolutely free on purchase of every 10 gram gold coin.


WGC in association with Muthoot Fincorp from the Muthoot Pappachan Group is organising a promotion for the "Swarna Varsham" gold-linked micro-finance programme.


This scheme is already successful in the four South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

In the Eastern region, WGC in association with Senco Gold is organising the gold bangle festival starting from 9 grams onwards along with special discounts on making charges during this festive period.
