Tech hubs Bengaluru and Hyderabad are likely to be connected by Vande Bharat Express starting from September 24, with commercial operations commencing the next day.

According to railway sources, Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of 609.8 km between two cities in eight hours and 30 minutes (average speed: 71 kmph).

Train no. 20704 Yeswantpur - Kacheguda, will depart from Yeswantpur at 2:45pm and arrive at Kacheguda at 11:15pm. On the return journey, Train no. 20703 Kacheguda - Yeswantpur, will leave Kacheguda at 5:30am and reach Yeswantpur at 2pm.

Vande Bharat Express, operated by Secunderabad-based South Central Railway, will also have stoppages at Mahbubnagar, Kurnool City, Anantapur, and Dharmavaram.

South Western Railway officials said trial run of Kacheguda-Yeswantpur Vande Bharat Express is scheduled on September 21. The train will reach Yeswantpur at 2pm from Kancheguda and depart at 2:45pm from Yeswantpur.

Experts say tech professionals, businesspeople, and students travelling between these two tech hubs are likely to benefit from faster and more comfortable Vande Bharat Express.

Currently, the average travel time by train between Bengaluru and Hyderabad is 10-13 hours. The current fastest train between Bengaluru and Hyderabad is Yeswantpur-Delhi Duronto Express, which takes nine hours.

KN Krishna Prasad, founder member of NGO Karnataka Railway Vedike, said, "While it will benefit passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Hyderabad, it should have been operated through Raichur and Yadgir, which would have helped people in North Karnataka."

This will be the third Vande Bharat Express for Karnataka, following Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Hubballi-Dharwad routes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate nine Vande Bharat trains on nine routes, including Bengaluru (Yeswantpur) - Hyderabad (Kacheguda), Tirunelveli - Chennai Egmore,  Kasaragod - Thiruvananthapuram (via Alappuzha), Vijayawada - Chennai (Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Railway Station), Puri - Rourkela, Udaipur - Jaipur, Patna- Howrah, Ranchi - Howrah and Jamnagar - Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) on September 24. However, railway officials have stated that it has not yet been confirmed.
