The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is presenting its vision for transforming the nation's aviation landscape at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Exhibition, being held in Rajkot as part of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference 2026 that will end on January 15, 2026.
The showcase highlights India's remarkable aviation expansion, which has seen operational airports grow from 74 operational airports in 2014 to 164 operational airports in in 2025.
The authority has set a bold target of establishing 350 to 400 airports by 2047, positioning air connectivity as a catalyst for regional development and economic integration.
Designed to mirror a contemporary airport terminal, the pavilion features interactive elements including a runway installation, quiz stations, and educational displays about air traffic control operations.
A centerpiece of the exhibition is "Sapno Ki Udaan," a career guidance program introducing young people to aviation opportunities in engineering, air navigation, finance, and human resources.
The display emphasizes the UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme, which has expanded affordable air travel to underserved areas. Interactive touchscreens allow visitors to explore how this initiative has strengthened regional economic growth, particularly across Gujarat.
Cultural elements enhance the experience, including a statue honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and collective performances of "Vande Mataram" marking the national song's 150th anniversary. Safety equipment demonstrations and virtual reality experiences round out the exhibits.
Located at Marwadi University, the pavilion demonstrates how infrastructure development and skilled workforce cultivation are advancing India's position in global aviation.
