Sources Indicate STRCH Founder Prithvi Bhagat May Be Among Potential Bidders for RCB Franchise

November 15, 2025 / 13:39 IST
Mumbai, November 2025:

Industry sources indicate that Prithvi Bhagat, founder of one of India’s activewear brand STRCH and Managing Director of textile major Gulabdas & Co., may be among the potential bidders exploring interest in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise if an ownership opportunity arises.

While neither Bhagat nor the two companies have issued an official statement, speculation has been growing following his recent post on X:

“Not saying much, but the next STRCH move might just wear red and gold.”

The post referencing RCB’s iconic colours has sparked conversations across business and sports circles about a possible bid led by Bhagat and his companies.

From Textile Legacy to Performance Innovation

Bhagat currently helms Gulabdas & Co., a legacy textile manufacturer with over six decades of experience in industrial and performance fabrics. Under his leadership, the company has expanded from traditional textile manufacturing into advanced material innovation and high-performance applications.

In 2023, he founded STRCH, a premium activewear label built on the principles of technical precision, quality nylon-based fabrics, and performance-driven design. Within two years, STRCH has established itself as a strong Indian challenger in the activewear segment blending functionality, craftsmanship, and a distinct visual identity.

A Move That Feels Both Strategic and Emotional

Born in Bangalore, Bhagat’s connection to the city adds a personal layer to the speculation. His familiarity with Bengaluru’s sporting and entrepreneurial culture could make such an acquisition feel not only strategic, but also emotionally resonant.

“From a business perspective, it makes sense. But there’s also a deeper hometown sentiment if this turns out to be true,” said a senior sports marketing professional on condition of anonymity. “An entrepreneur with roots in Bangalore, backed by a legacy textile house, entering cricket ownership that’s a story that connects.”
