Beads of sweat form on your forehead and nose, your skin begins to feel tight, itchy, or even appear flaky and red- welcome summer! As the sun blazes overhead, these symptoms seem to get worse with each day.

It is the sign of dehydration, as the sun's rays can easily sap the moisture from your skin. A hydrated, healthy complexion is essential for keeping your skin looking fresh, smooth, and youthful. Not only does hydration combat signs of aging, but it also helps your skin defend itself against environmental stressors.

Here's how you can keep your facial skin cool and hydrated in summer:

Stay hydrated from within: More than ever, the summer months require you to stay hydrated. Know that hydration starts from within, so be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. This helps maintain skin elasticity and suppleness. Staying hydrated also assists in flushing out toxins from your body, leading to clearer and healthier skin.

Keep it gentle: Choose a gentle, hydrating cleanser to remove sweat, oil, and dirt without stripping your skin of its natural moisture barrier. Look for cleansers with soothing ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, or cucumber extract that calm and nourish the skin.

SPF is the mantra: A lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser with SPF is essential for protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. Sun exposure can lead to premature ageing and dehydration. Choose a moisturiser with at least SPF 30 for daily use.

Spray the mist: To deal with the scorching heat, try facial mists. They are refreshing and offer instant hydration, especially on hot days. Look for mists with calming ingredients like rose water, chamomile, or green tea that provide a soothing effect. Spray the mist on your face whenever you need a quick refresh.

No more hot water: Even in summer, many prefer a hot shower. No matter how tempting it may be, it can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness. Opt for lukewarm water when washing your face or bathing, as it is less harsh on the skin.
