Investing in planters for a balcony or terrace garden during the monsoon season can be a delightful way to enhance your home's aesthetic and uplift your mood. Monsoon is a perfect season for the plants to bloom and this season gives us a chance to create our own green oasis in our living space by investing in planters of various sizes and vibrant colours.

Perfect for herbs, succulents, and smaller flowers, multi-coloured planters can be used to fill in gaps and add variety.

This is the best time to showcase unique and artistic planter designs that serve as focal points in gardens, indoor balcony deck or terrace garden. By including some flower and ornamental plants, you can easily enhance the colour-factor and create eye-calming visuals. To enjoy the best of rainy weather, add a cluster of planters according to deck space, advices Kapil Vaishnani, founder of décor brand Bonasila. He says, “Planters can be selected in various sizes with designs in geometrical, planter boxes, cylindrical or water garden planters as per the balcony, terrace garden, courtyard, indoor spaces and hallways. Large planters and bright colours are a big yes for terrace spaces. There are planters available in materials like ceramic, concrete, FRP, terracotta, steel, etc. which are not only durable but also in trend. The planters of these materials are available in various sizes, shapes, as well as textures.”

Arrangement matters:

There are plenty of ways and places to arrange your planters which can be an instant mood lift. Brinda Mehta, Co-Founder of Bonasila, explains how to get creative with placement of planters for a wholesome experience. She says, “You can start with the basics like cluster placing, which requires planters with various sizes, arrange them in an ascending or descending order to give a symmetrical look. You can also jumble across the sizes to create a disrupted look. One can also go for ‘Uniform placing’, where you can put all the same sized planters in a straight line with equal space between each one. This placement of planters will give a neat look to your space. To make a bold statement placing, place a large statement planter and surround it with small planters to create a bold statement, highlighting the large planter. Make sure you place your planters in a spot where there is minimal decoration or else there is a chance that the planters in an overly stuffed room can make it look congested.”

Pop of colour:

With planters around the house, you can enjoy the pouring rains with a cup of coffee or tea while admiring the beautiful patch of nature curated in your living space. Speaking about the current trends, Vaishnani mentions, “For selecting planters, go for colours with an earthy palette, bright tones or classic black and white in surface finishes like matte, glossy, concrete, rustic, marble, terracotta etc. An earthy shade palette is in trend nowadays, which creates a warm, cozy and welcoming space. Colours like browns, terracotta, grays, green etc. can be incorporated to keep the colour scheme in synch with the theme of the house. You can always mix and match to create a green soothing spot in your home.”
