Diwali is exactly a month away. Navratri kicks off on October 3, ushering in a vibrant sequence of festivals, including Dussehra, Karva Chauth, and Diwali. As the celebrations unfold, there’s a natural desire to look and feel your best. With the joyous atmosphere filled with lights, laughter, and love, it’s the ideal moment to embrace beauty routines that enhance your natural radiance.
Achieving flawless skin for a special occasion requires both short-term preparation and cultivating healthy long-term habits, says Dr Madhurya Gogineni, Dermatologist at Zennara Clinics. “Investing in your skin is just as important as investing in your celebrations. A well-planned skincare routine will not only enhance your beauty but also boost your confidence as you mark the festive spirit.”

Dr Gogineni suggests the following tips to ensure your skin is radiant and event-ready:
- Start early: Consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Establish a daily routine that includes a gentle cleanser to remove impurities, a hydrating moisturiser to lock in moisture, and a broad-spectrum SPF to protect against UV damage. Incorporate a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week to slough off dead skin cells and reveal a smoother, more even texture. Alongside skincare, hydration is vital; drink plenty of water throughout the day and focus on a diet rich in antioxidants, which help fight free radicals and promote healthy skin.

Chemical peels, done 4-6 weeks before, can rejuvenate your skin by minimising fine lines, improving texture, and brightening your complexion. Facials, especially hydrating or brightening ones, can give your skin a luminous, fresh glow; aim to schedule these about a week before the occasion to avoid any last-minute irritation or redness.
- Target specific skin concerns: If you have skin concerns like acne, dark spots, or dryness, it's essential to address these well in advance. For acne-prone skin, consult a dermatologist to establish a targeted treatment plan that may include medical-grade skincare or topical treatments. Dark spots or pigmentation can be improved with the use of vitamin C serums for brightening, or with ingredients like hydroquinone or retinol, which require several months of consistent use to see noticeable results. For dry or dehydrated skin, incorporate hydrating serums, such as those with hyaluronic acid, and switch to a richer night cream to lock in moisture overnight.
