Festivals have a significant role in bringing families and friends together, especially when the atmosphere fills with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of delicious food. Eid, the joyous occasion marking the end of Ramadan, is a time of celebration, reflection, and togetherness. One aspect that adds to the festivities is the meticulous attention to interior design, which plays a significant role in creating an inviting and harmonious environment.

Decorating your home for Eid and Iftar parties is an opportunity to embrace the spirit of the occasion and create lasting memories with loved ones. Aditi Bajyal, creative lead at Vinciago by Livspace, shares some useful ideas and tips to infuse the spirit of the festive occasion into your home décor. Make a list of the decor and accents you'll need, advices the expert. “Planning your decorations well in advance of the festival always helps to avoid overspending. Creating a cohesive look throughout your home is the ultimate game changer which can be achieved by selecting a theme that can help guide your decorating decisions. Whether it's a traditional theme based on cultural elements or a modern, minimalist approach, having a central theme will make the process effective,” she adds.

Warm welcome:

By incorporating thematic elements, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches, you can transform your space into a festive oasis where guests feel welcomed and cherished. Bring the beauty of nature indoors by decorating with fresh flowers, foliage, and seasonal plants. You can create stunning floral arrangements for tabletops and mantels, or simply display potted plants around your home to add freshness and colour. Aditi says, “Add a personal touch to your festival decorations by incorporating handmade or DIY elements. Get creative with crafts like handmade ornaments, paper lanterns, or painted pumpkins, and involve your family members in the decorating process to make it a fun and memorable experience. Use festive lighting, it instantly transforms the ambiance of your home. Consider using string lights, lanterns, candles, or diyas (traditional oil lamps) to add warmth and sparkle to your space. You can drape string lights along staircases, windows, or around doorways to create a magical atmosphere.”

Make it lit:

From intricately designed lanterns and string lights to colourful bunting and floral arrangements, there are numerous ways to add a touch of elegance and charm to your interiors. Incorporate elements such as metallic accents, ornate mirrors, and plush textiles to create a sense of luxury and grandeur.

Enhance the festive ambiance of your home by infusing it with seasonal scents. Use scented candles, essential oil diffusers, or potpourri featuring fragrances like cinnamon, cloves, pine, or citrus to evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. “Use vibrant colours associated with the festival to add cheer and excitement to your home decor. One can incorporate these colors through textiles such as curtains, rugs, cushions, and throws, as well as through decorative accents like flowers, artwork, and tableware. While one can do all the decoration if the space lacks a sense of balance, it will always look cluttered and busy. Keep pathways clear and ensure that your decorations don't impede movement or functionality within your home,” recommends Aditi.
