Festive times are synonymous with make-overs, stunning outfits and of course newer hair styles. As the atmosphere fills with joy and excitement, it’s the perfect opportunity to change your look with new, fancy hairstyles. Whether you’re attending dandia nights, family gatherings, parties, or cultural events, experimenting with your hair adds an extra layer of flair and individuality to your festive appearance.

Trying out fresh hairstyles allows you to express yourself and embrace the spirit of the season, says Anshita Mehrotra, founder Fix my Curls. “Festive occasions call for a bit of glamour, and hairstyles are a fantastic way to add drama to your look. The right hairstyle can help complement your outfit and also boost your confidence,” adds Mehrotra.

She shares tips for trying out 5 hassle-free hairstyles that are sure to turn heads and keep your curls looking fabulous:

  • Let it down curly: Defined curls never go out of fashion. The only thing that can go wrong is frizz. Using a lightweight curl-defining gel on damp hair will help shape and define your curls while keeping them in place without stiffness. Scrunch it through, diffuse, or air dry, and you’re left with soft, well-defined curls that will last all day, no matter how wild the party gets!

  • Moisturised low bun: A hair bun is a go-to for Indian festivals. A sleek, elegant low bun that looks effortlessly chic is easy to achieve with rich curl-quenching butter. This will hydrate the curls, making them smooth and easy to manage as you gather them into a loose bun. It also ensures that your hair stays frizz-free and soft, even as the night goes on.

  • Voluminous half-up, half-down: For a flirty and voluminous look, use a light mousse to create extra bounce and volume. Once your curls have that added lift, pull the top half into a small ponytail, letting the bottom half stay loose and playful. The mousse will keep your curls full of life and perfectly styled all night long.

  • Twist out: For those who love defined texture, a twist-out is a must. Apply a curl-enhancing cream as you section and twist your hair. Once your twists are dry, unravel them to reveal beautifully defined curls that stay bouncy and in place, thanks to the product’s hold and moisture.
  • Slicked back wet look: This style is bold and effortlessly glamorous. After washing your hair, apply a curl-defining gel to wet curls and comb it through, slicking your hair back into a low ponytail or letting it flow behind you. The gel keeps your curls defined while giving you that sleek, glossy look that stays in place all day.
