The online registration and fee payment window for the massive BSSC 2nd Inter Level recruitment drive closes tonight at midnight. With a total of 24,492 state government posts on offer, this is a final opportunity for intermediate (12th pass) candidates seeking a career in Bihar's government sector. The commission reports that nearly 30 lakh applications have already been submitted, underscoring the high stakes of this recruitment.

Interested candidates must complete their registration on the official portal, www.onlinebssc.com, by the end of today. The final deadline to submit the completed application form is January 15, 2026.

This recruitment, announced by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), includes vacancies across various reserved categories. Out of the total 24,492 posts, 10,753 are unreserved. Reservations include 3,407 posts for Scheduled Castes (SC), 231 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 4,185 for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), and 2,678 for Backward Classes (BC). Additionally, 811 posts are reserved for women of Backward Classes (BCW), and 2,427 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). A horizontal reservation of 35% for women applies across categories, securing 7,816 positions for female candidates.

Examination and Selection Details

Eligibility for these posts requires candidates to have passed the 12th (Intermediate) examination. For certain roles, demonstrated computer typing skills are also mandatory alongside the educational qualification.

The selection process will consist of three stages: a preliminary written examination, a main examination, and a skill test for relevant posts. The preliminary exam will be an objective-type test comprising 150 questions from General Studies, General Science, Mathematics, and Mental Ability. The exam duration is 2 hours and 15 minutes, with a penalty of one mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

Candidates must achieve minimum qualifying marks to advance: 40% for the general category, 36.5% for BC, 34% for MBC, and 32% for SC/ST candidates. The results will be calculated using a normalization method to ensure fairness, particularly if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts. Top performers, up to five times the number of available vacancies, will be shortlisted to appear for the main examination.

This recruitment marks the BSSC's second inter-level vacancy announcement in almost nine years, following the first inter-level examination advertised in 2014. The commission had initially accepted applications for this second round until November 2023, making this extended deadline a final call for eligible candidates who missed the earlier window.
