Taylor Swift revealed how she has been experimenting with everything sourdough, from cinnamon swirls to Funfetti, because, as she says, “girls love a rainbow.”

Everything Taylor Swift does becomes a huge talking point, and her revelation about loving sourdough bread on fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast caught everyone’s attention. The 35-year-old singer shared her obsession with sourdough baking, adding that it “has taken over my life in a huge way.”

All she is doing now is “talking about bread 60% of the time.” She revealed how she has been experimenting with everything sourdough, from cinnamon swirls to Funfetti, because, as she says, “girls love a rainbow.” Kelce’s favourite, though, has been the blueberry lemon sourdough.

Taylor also confessed to sending the bread to her friends for feedback and reading tips online to improve her skills. Not only this, she also sent a bread basket to her best friend Selena Gomez and her fiancé Benny Blanco, which included sourdough along with other goodies.

Benefits of sourdough bread

Sourdough is made of simple ingredients, which include salt, water, flour, and a naturally fermented mix of wild yeast and bacteria. What makes it healthy is its fermentation process, where proteins in the flour break down into smaller compounds called peptides. These compounds help manage blood pressure by keeping blood vessels relaxed.

Sourdough is an excellent source of prebiotic fibre, which feeds the good bacteria and reduces inflammation. It’s lighter on the stomach due to its fermentation process, which lowers its glycemic index. This is also beneficial for blood sugar levels.

The bread has a lower glycemic index than white bread, which makes it better for consumption. This happens because fermentation breaks down starch in the bread for better digestion and absorption into the bloodstream. As a result, blood sugar levels rise gradually.

Additionally, when made from whole grains, the benefits multiply. Whole-grain breads are high in soluble fibre, which helps reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol by binding to it in the digestive tract before it enters the bloodstream.
