Nausea strikes when your stomach feels sick, and it can be triggered by various things, including a headache or when you overeat. Needless to say, it's a bothersome sensation, making even simple tasks a challenge when you're feeling queasy.

It is, however, a warning signal from the body to urge us to reflect on our dietary choices or stress management methods. Whether it fades fast or stays longer, it prompts us to sip ginger tea, opt for light meals, or simply take a breather.

To help with nausea, there are medicines called antiemetics. They stop the feeling of wanting to throw up. But these medicines can also trigger more side effects like dry mouth, feeling tired, or not wanting to eat. Try natural remedies, suggests dietician Shashank Rawat.

Rawat recommends the following home remedies to alleviate nausea.

Ginger: Ginger is a great natural remedy. It can stop nausea and vomiting, especially for pregnant women or those going through chemotherapy. You can eat it fresh, or add it to your tea or dishes.

Inhale peppermint's smell: Peppermint is another good option. Recent studies show it can help with nausea caused by chemotherapy. You can find it as capsules, tea, or oil, giving a fresh way to feel better.

Protein and Cinnamon: Eating foods with lots of protein can also help with nausea. And cinnamon: with its warm taste, it can ease nausea from period pain. It smells nice and can make you feel better.

Stay hydrated: Drinking and eating right is important, especially if you're throwing up. Try snacks with salt or drinks with a little sugar, like non-fizzy drinks. Avoiding things like fizzy drinks or spicy food can also help.

Relax and sit up: Doing calming things like slow breathing or meditation can help nausea. Sitting up straight can help your stomach work better and make nausea go away.

Throw up: Sometimes helpful, throwing up can actually give temporary relief, especially with food poisoning or feeling sick from alcohol. But it's only a temporary fix and can make you feel worse later on.
