Zac Efron hospitalized following swimming pool incident: Team confirms he's okay

Zac Efron experienced a minor health scare while on vacation in Spain. After a small mishap in a swimming pool, he was promptly taken to a hospital.

Fortunately, he was discharged shortly afterward, as he had not sustained any serious injuries, and the hospital visit was purely precautionary.

Efron had traveled to Spain because he was already in Europe for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The actor was staying at a villa in Ibiza when he had a minor mishap while taking a dip in the swimming pool.

On Friday night, August 2, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The following morning, Efron was released, with his representative stating, “He is fine.”

The rep also mentioned that it was just a "minor swimming pool" incident at the villa, as reported by People Magazine.

Prior to the incident, Efron was spotted on stage with DJ Martin Garrix at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club in Spain.

A video posted on TikTok by a Garrix fan shows the High School Musical alum dancing alongside the DJ as the crowd cheered. Efron was enjoying a well-deserved break after a busy year with roles in The Iron Claw, Ricky Stanicky, and his Netflix romantic comedy film The Family Affair with Nicole Kidman and Joey King.

Efron and Kidman appeared together in the film The Family Affair, which initially had a different title. In a June interview with People, the actors revealed that the original title was much raunchier, fitting for an NSFW comedy.

Efron shared, "It was called Motherf****,*” with Kidman adding, “It was beeped out.” Joking about the title, the 57-year-old actress said, “Somehow that didn't make it onto the Netflix title,” to which Efron responded, “That made the script stay at the top of the pile. It's like, what on Earth could this be about?"

Efron also mentioned that it was a great opportunity to reconnect with co-star Kidman, with whom he last worked in 2013 on the set of The Paperboy. He said, “I jumped at the chance. I think we both did. It was like, this is perfect. What better way to reconnect? And we get to have fun."
