Long-time viewers of the venerable crime drama CID have been ecstatic about a significant update that actor Parth Samthaan, who recently took on the role of a new lead, shared.
Parth now plays ACP Ayushman in the series, which made a comeback with a new twist. The adored Shivaji Satam is also returning as the renowned ACP Pradyuman, which is an exciting development.
Parth took to his Instagram stories to share a behind-the-scenes clip that confirmed the news. In the video, ACP Pradyuman is seen seated in his signature style while ACP Ayushman, played by Parth, stands beside him during an intense interrogation scene.
He cheekily captioned the clip, “ACP Interrogating ACP”, and tagged both Sony TV and Netflix, confirming Pradyuman’s presence in the episode airing tonight.
In another social media post, Parth offered fans a glimpse into his on-screen identity by revealing his character’s ID card. The badge displayed details such as his name, designation, state, blood group, and ID number. Captioning the post with enthusiasm, he wrote, "#acp #ayushman #cid #badge #letsraid #bts #cop @sonytvofficial @netflix_in".
In a candid chat with India Forums, Parth opened up about the emotional weight and immense responsibility that comes with taking on a role so deeply etched in the hearts of Indian television audiences.
Reflecting on his recent experience working with Shivaji Satam, he said, “It’s a huge responsibility. I recently shot with Shivaji Sir, and it was a fantastic experience. At 75, his energy and dedication are incredible. He’s been consistent in his role for over two decades, and that’s truly commendable.”
However, Parth also acknowledged the wave of criticism he’s faced since the reboot, admitting, “Honestly, I didn’t expect the trolling to be this intense... Even I have been a fan of Shivaji Sir and the original characters.”
Despite the mixed reactions, Parth is determined to bring his own essence to the show. He added, “I’ve come to CID with a purpose... I’m not here to fill his shoes but to bring something new while respecting the legacy.”
