During the session at WAVES 2025 day 2, Kareena Kapoor also recreated her iconic dialogue from the film Jab We Met and said, “Har ladki aur aurat ko hamesha kehna chaiye ‘main apni favourite hu’," leaving the audience delighted.

Adding to the excitement, Kareena Kapoor also shared her thoughts on the growing trend of Indian actors venturing into Hollywood. Speaking with her signature confidence, she offered her take on the global shift. “Main toh yahi hu. I believe in acting in India and doing my own thing. Bada maja aata hai hamare Hindi gaano par dance karna. Bada maja aata hai Hindi dialogues bolna.”

Kareena Kapoor also revealed that Hollywood actor Steven Spielberg has watched 3 Idiots and immediately recognised her when he once saw her at a restaurant. "He actually came up to me and told me, 'Are you the girl in the very famous Indian film about the three students?' I said, 'yes it is me'. He then said, 'My god, I love that movie.'"

She further said, "So I don't have to work in a Hollywood film, he watched an Indian film."

Post the session on Day 2 at World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES), actor Vijay Deverakonda said, "It is good that to get people together and have this conversation at the first place, but we need to increase distribution, we need to get like-minded people from entertainment together and then we create content, and we need to figure out structures with the help of the government, industry to increase our distribution across world. For sure, we make great stories, I think we just need the distribution."

At day 2 of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025- WAVES, EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "... The process of change has a strong cultural dimension... The world is intrinsically and essentially diverse, and pluralism has been suppressed in the past by both colonialism and big power dominance. To democratise the international system, we must give voice to our traditions, heritage, ideas, and creativity... That is best done by harnessing the power of technology more effectively... The World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit is a first-of-its-kind event and a four-day summit. It is exploring the theme 'Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries', and aims to strengthen India's position as an entertainment and creative innovation hub.

On Day 1, the grand event witnessed the presence of several celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar, among others.

The event was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “It is the beginning of the orange economy in India. Indian films’ reach is across the world,” PM Modi said. “India’s food is getting popular across the world. And I know, India’s music too will gain popularity around the world."

The event also saw engaging fireside chats with Allu Arjun, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Speaking at the Talent Beyond Borders session at WAVES 2025, actor Allu Arjun shared his vision of taking Indian cinema to the global stage. He said that while industries like Hollywood, Korean, and Chinese cinema have made a major impact on the global box office, Indian films haven’t yet reached that level despite their rich legacy. “It’s only a matter of time. India is growing, and soon our film industry will leave a strong mark globally,” he said.

At WAVES 2025, Allu Arjun spoke about the importance of originality in cinema, saying that while every film should be different, artists often fall into patterns. “We always try to create something new. I believe versatility is a natural result of that effort,” he said.

Speaking at WAVES 2025, actor Allu Arjun opened up about an accident that occurred while filming Pushpa 2. He revealed, “During the shoot, I suffered a shoulder tear. The doctor advised six months of rest, and that’s when it really hit me that I’m getting older.”

At the WAVES 2025 Summit, Allu Arjun shared insights into his perfectionist approach to acting. He recalled the intense process of shooting the iconic dupatta flying scene in Pushpa 2: The Rise, where he took 17 to 18 shots. “We started around 8 or 9 am, and by 11:30 am, I found my rhythm. We kept going until we nailed it around 4 or 4:30 pm. I always aim to give my best for my fans,” the actor said.

At the WAVES Summit, Allu Arjun shared the inspiration behind his decision to develop a six-pack. He explained that it all came down to mindset. “About 20 years ago, I realized it just takes one person to break the barrier,” he said. “Someone once told me, 'I don’t think South actors can achieve six-packs.' A fellow actress said this, and it turned into a challenge for me, and I was able to prove it wrong.”

Speaking at WAVES Summit 2025, Allu Arjun emphasized how vital fitness is for actors, especially in Indian cinema where roles demand everything from intense dance routines to action sequences. He shared that he began focusing on fitness at the age of 19 or 20, and over the years has gained experience—and endured injuries—along the way. “It’s extremely challenging,” he admitted, “but seeing yourself on the big screen makes it all worth it.”

At WAVES Summit 2025, Allu Arjun opened up about how life has changed after the success of Pushpa 2. The actor said he's still figuring out how to respond to the overwhelming love from fans. He said that he is a natural actor and has a long way to go.

At WAVES 2025, Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, shared insights into India’s rapidly expanding creator economy. He highlighted that Prime Minister Modi, with over 25 million subscribers, has the largest YouTube following among any head of government globally. In the past year alone, over 100 million Indian channels have uploaded content, with the number of channels crossing 1 million subscribers growing to 15,000, up from 11,000. Mohan revealed that YouTube has already paid ₹21,000 crore to creators and artists across India, and announced plans to invest an additional ₹850 crore over the next two years to support and grow India’s creator ecosystem.

At WAVES 2025, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, laid out a four-point action plan to drive the growth of India’s media and entertainment (M&E) industry, currently valued at $28 billion, with the potential to reach $100 billion.

--Ambani called for investment in state-of-the-art content creation hubs and the training of talent in animation and VFX to meet future demand.

--He urged the country’s top content creators to aim for global audiences, citing the IPL’s global popularity as proof of India’s growing appeal in sports entertainment.

Deepika remarked that the WAVES Summit couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. She highlighted how the event marks the convergence of various creative mediums, noting that while different industries have their own festivals, WAVES stands out for uniting them under one roof—especially at a time when India is emerging as a central force on the global stage. She emphasized that the integration of technology and AI at the summit makes it a pioneering initiative, possibly the first of its kind in the world.

Shah Rukh also said, "WAVES summit comes at a time when the film industry has been asking Industry status. Shooting processes should become easier for Indian filmmakers and also those from coming from abroad. When festivals like waves happen, every fifth person in the world is Indian and such festivals can take Indian movies to the global stage. The call of the day is more theatres, simpler and cheaper theatres at cheaper rates otherwise it is becoming expensive in big towns. Then the China model we will have that many cinemas and the footfalls can increase."

Shah Rukh also elaborated on the dependency of today's generation on social media. "Every one wants to be seen because of social media but in that rush they have forgotten to see themselves. Instead of wanting to be seen, walk on the path diligently and look at ourselves."

Shah Rukh Khan also stated, "I have too much respect for women. I feel genuine love for every woman I meet. I find them gentle, kind and they are connected to nature."

Deepika Padukone also revealed in a rare moment that she is a shy person. "I am a shy person so it is difficult for me to make friends and open up. My friends from school, they keep me grounded." Karan Johar, who is hosting the session, chipped in saying that Shah Rukh Khan is indeed the most awkward in a party.

Speaking further at the WAVES 2025 held in Mumbai on Thursday, the Jawan actor elaborated on not feeling lonely. "You can never be lonely if you can make your children laugh. If you don't have kids then make your parents laugh and you will never be lonely."

Responding to Karan Johar’s remark about his resilience, Shah Rukh Khan quoted his iconic line from Om Shanti Om, saying he felt like the king of the world. He went on to share that he doesn’t work to meet expectations, but rather approaches his craft with sincerity. He added that what truly drives him is the joy of making people smile and feel happy.

Deepika shed light on her new role as a mother with daughter Dua. He said, "I am navigating what this new life as a mother would be like for me."

The Pathaan Actor also recalled that an anecdote when he rejected a film's script which was brought by Karan Johar. "A few years back, KJo came to my house with a script and the script required me to wear a skirt throughout the film. That's when I stepped back from the script for the first time," he said.

"Whenever I have failed, I have felt twice as much because I feel I have let down many people. When a film is not successful it feels like I have insulted my fans. I don't allow defeat to overtake me. When a film flops I go to the bathroom i cry. I have even learnt cooking. So I do feel bad and wrong when my films don't work, Shah Rukh added.

Shah Rukh Khan also highlighted the significance of Deepika’s new role as a mother following the birth of her daughter, Dua, saying it would be the most important and meaningful role she would ever play. He jokingly added saying, "I love Deepika because she is tall and I can hide behind her at a party."

Deepika expressed that she had never really felt like an outsider in the film industry. Recalling her debut, she noted how uncommon it was for a newcomer to be offered such a significant double role. She mentioned that the experience felt like home and that she was given the freedom to make mistakes, which allowed her to learn and grow.

Deepika Padukone agreed to Shah Rukh's statement about insiders and outsiders and remarked, "I agree with SRK that these are terms that we are discussing insider and outsider. When I came to films I came from Bangalore and I was transitioning between Bangalore and Mumbai. I met Farah Khan. She said I want you to meet SRK once and SRK was shooting for Chak De. I was a model before that and they had seen my work. I never felt I was an outsider. I had the determination, hard work and those were the things under my control."

Shah Rukh Khan further said on a lighter note, "I was kind with Deepika on sets because she was under age. You can't reprimand children."

Speaking at the session titled ‘The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler’, Shah Rukh Khan said,  "I would like to clarify, hunger are lofty words. I have a problem with the distinction of insider and outsider. It is important how to make space in any world (Indus try). If you pity yourself then you will not be able to make way into the industry. No world gives a damn about you. You have to space in the sphere you want to enter. When I came to the film industry i believed this is my world and the industry embraced me with open arms."

WAVES 2025: Filmmaker Atlee on PM Narendra Modi's inaugural speech: 'It is going to create new generation of media students, filmmakers and storytellers'

Filmmaker Atlee also attended the WAVES 2025 held today at the Jio World Centre, Mumbai. Elaborating on PM Modi's speech, the Jawan director said, "It gives us lots of inspiration and it motivates us. WAVES is such a wonderful platform. It is going to create new generation of media students, filmmakers and storytellers and it is going to be outstanding move. PM Modi's speech was so inspiring, and it motivates us, and it really made us today to think something big and achieve it."

One of the esteemed guests at the WAVES 2025 being  held today in Mumbai, was singer  and composer AR Rahman. While addressing the media, he spoke about PM Narendra Modi's keynote speech and said, "I think he articulated on all the stuff that the young generation wants, the older generation wants. And, I think it's very helpful, and we're all very proud of this initiative."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first-ever World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai on May 1. In his keynote address, he reflected on the historic release of India’s first silent feature film, Raja Harishchandra, which premiered exactly 112 years ago on the same date.

Highlighting the evolution and global impact of Indian storytelling, PM Modi remarked, “Raja Harishchandra, India’s first feature film, was released 112 years ago today. Since then, our entertainment industry has grown remarkably and made its mark across the world.”

Speaking at WAVES 2025, Mohanlal further elaborated saying that no film is a bad film. "It is a piece of art", he added.

While posing a question to Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar referred to Malayalam cinema as the intellectual soul of Indian cinema. Mohanlal responded saying, "It's a thin line in terms of art house and commercial success. It has to be well balanced. Art films have entertainment value and entertainment cinemas have art in it. We have been inspired by novels for our movies."

As the session 1 begins, veteran actor Chiranjeevi said, "My passion towards acting was since my childhood. I had my family encouraging me. I went to Chennai to pursue acting... I always wanted to showcase something extra as a star. In 1977, I was a student in a film institute. At that time I was inspired by Mithun Chakraborty. Also, back then actors would put a lot of makeup. but I wanted to be the boy next door. I have been inspired by Sholay, Amitabh Bachchan."

The opening session on day one, May 1,  titled "Legends & Legacies: The Stories that Shaped India's Soul," will bring together iconic film personalities Hema Malini, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, and Chiranjeevi. WAVES 2025: PM Narendra Modi unveils postage stamps in honour of 5 legends of Indian Cinema

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released a set of commemorative postage stamps honoring five legendary icons of Indian cinema: Guru Dutt, P. Bhanumathi, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, and Salil Chowdhury.

"Every creator is bringing a creative wave. Our government will support artists. From Skill India to start-up support, WAVES platform will help you to fulfil your dreams. We want to create a place where your ideas and imagination will be valued. Through WAVES you will get a big platform where creativity and coding will happen together, where art and augmented reality will happen together," PM said. "To Indian youth, tell your 1 billion untold stories to the world," he added.

"It is the beginning of the orange economy in India. Indian films' reach is across the world," PM Modi said. "India's food is getting popular across the world. And I know, India's music too will gain popularity around the world," he added.

"We have made the Padma Awards, people's Padma Awards. We have found out people from across the country. Just like that WAVES in music, gaming, and animation will give a platform to the talent from across India," PM Modi said.

"India will soon become the world's third-largest economy. India is already number one in global fintech adoption rate. It's the world's second-largest mobile manufacturer. India is the world's third-largest startup ecosystem. Viksit Bharat's journey has only started. The country has a lot to offer. Along with a billion-plus population, it is also a land of billion-plus stories," PM Modi said.

"For over 4 decades, Adobe has helped in over 20k magazines and several videos. With AI, it's exciting to see that momentum coming in India. India's creative industry can employ more people than the manufacturing industry. Over a billion people have used Adobe software, and people are using this to empower creators. We will support Modi in making India the world's creativity capital," Narayen said.

Mukesh Ambani has said that PM Modi's presence at WAVES 2025 sends a strong message of unity.

"PM Modi gave a green signal for this summit a few months ago and his idea was to amplify India's voice at the world stage. We have representatives from 90 countries. This is Josh of Naya Bharat, bold in its dream and fast in its execution," Mukesh Ambani has said.

"Rs 400 crore is allocated and the government of Maharashtra has given land for it. Google, Adobe and other global technology firms will be part of it. Mumbai is the natural host of WAVES," he said.
