Priyanka Chopra has expressed emotional gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support of the Indian entertainment industry, describing the WAVES Summit 2025 as a 'bold step' and 'historic' occasion for the country.

The World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will take place from May 1 to 4 at Mumbai's Jio World Centre.

WAVES, a significant gathering of global storytellers, strives to promote innovation, creativity, and cooperation in cinema, series, gaming, and digital entertainment.

The event will bring together over 10,000 participants, 1,000 creators, 300 organizations, 350 startups, and leaders from over 90 countries.

Priyanka Chopra, who is currently shooting for her upcoming movie with SS Rajamouli, took to her official Instagram account to post a video message highlighting the significance of the conference.

"Hello everyone. I wanted to take a moment to talk about something truly historic that’s happening right now. For the first time ever, India is hosting the World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit, WAVES, in Mumbai from May 1st to the 4th. Now this isn’t just another conference. WAVES is India’s bold step onto the world stage. A signal that our creative economy is not just thriving, but ready to lead," she stated.

She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government officials for their support for the programme.

"And today WAVES is doing exactly that, thanks to the vision of our esteemed Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi Ji, and the incredible support of the various ministries working to give media, entertainment, and the creator economy the true industry recognition that it deserves,” Priyanka added.

Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, and other celebrities are expected to attend WAVES 2025.
