WAVES 2025: Jackie Shroff, Shaan condemn the Pahalgam Terror attack

Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff and singer Shaan have denounced the terror incident in Pahalgam on April 22, which murdered 26 innocent tourists and injured many more.

Jackie Shroff condemned the Pahalgam attack, saying the entire country is grieving the loss. When asked about the restriction on Pakistani musicians in India, Jackie replied: "Jab situation aisa hai toh aik thoda sa faasla rahe."

He told reporters, "Jo parivaar jinko kshati hui unko dil se main naman karta hoon; poore Hindustan mein sabke dil mein dukh hai. Hum chahte hai log jude rahe, jhagda kyun? Masoomon ka marna. Ye toh government ki baat hai, hum isme dakhal dekar controversy nahi karna chahte. Mujhe lagta hai ki jab scenario aisa hai, aik thoda sa faasla rahe. ("My sincere sympathies to the families of those slain in the Pahalgam attack. The entire country is in grief. We want people to come together, yet why is there conflict? Why are innocent people suffering? Regarding the blacklisted Pakistani actors, this is a government affair, and we do not want to stir up controversy by intervening. I believe that in such cases, it is essential to keep some space.

Singer Shaan lamented the loss of lives in Pahalgam, but stated that the show must go on and that terrorists "want to stop things, but we won't let that happen."

"I am really thrilled and enthusiastic about the WAVES Summit. We will all have such a great platform to express our thoughts. As the great Raj Kapoor would say, 'The show must go on.' Of course, it has broken our hearts, and there is a lot of love and sorrow for the victims, but that is what they want, to halt things, to hold things back, but we will not let that happen," he told reporters at the Waves Summit.

Officials said Mumbai is set to be the permanent host for the WAVES conference, which is advertised as the largest gathering of the media and entertainment industries, equivalent to the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos for the business and economics sectors.

Day one will begin with a high-profile panel discussion titled 'Legends and Legacies: The Stories That Shaped India's Soul,' including Hema Malini, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, and Chiranjeevi. The event will be conducted by actor Akshay Kumar.
