Vijay and Genelia D'Souza's Sachein to re-release on April 18

Rockstar DSP has been making waves with his grand DSP Live India Tour, but there's yet another reason to celebrate his musical brilliance. One of his early and most memorable works, Sachein, starring Vijay and Genelia D'Souza, is gearing up for a grand re-release on April 18, 2025, in honor of its 20th anniversary.

Though Sachein was a remake of the Telugu film Neetho, which failed at the box office, the Tamil version turned out to be a commercial success. The film not only solidified DSP’s position as a talented composer but also marked a significant milestone in his early career. One of the standout moments from the soundtrack was when DSP got Vijay to lend his voice to the energetic track Vaadi Vaadi, which became a massive dance hit.

With DSP’s signature music and lyrics penned by Pa. Vijay, Kabilan, Na. Muthukumar, V. Elango, and Palani Bharathi, the film’s soundtrack became an instant favorite. Songs like Vaadi Vaadi, Dai Dai Dai Kattikkoda, Kanmoodi Thirakumbothu, and Gundu Manga Thoppukkulle quickly topped music charts and won over audiences.

Directed by John Mahendran, the romantic comedy also marked Bipasha Basu’s Tamil debut and featured Vadivelu, Santhanam, and the late Raghuvaran in key roles. Set against a college backdrop, Sachein saw Vijay as the charming titular character and Genelia as his love interest, Shalini.

Meanwhile, DSP continues to enthrall audiences with his DSP Live Tour. After delivering a power-packed performance in Bangalore last week, he is all set to take the stage in Vizag, The City of Destiny, on March 29 to entertain his Telugu fans.
