In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol.com, Varun Sood, the charismatic host of the adventurous reality show "Reality Ranis Of The Jungle," opened up about the unique challenges and responsibilities that come with leading such a dynamic program. As someone who has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade, Sood emphasized the importance of authenticity and fairness, especially when hosting a show featuring women who are no strangers to reality television.
When asked about his excitement for hosting the show, Varun expressed a mix of thrill and awareness of the significant responsibility that comes with the role. "The biggest challenge of hosting a show where women have already done reality shows is that they have a host to compare to. I needed to come across as a very fair host," he stated. This commitment to fairness was not just a personal goal; it was a shared vision with the show's producers at Discovery. Varun mentioned, "I had a very nice long discussion with Discovery and Banijay about my ideologies, about having a reality show completely real and fair for everybody."
Prior to taking on this role, Sood contemplated his approach to hosting. Reflecting on his early career, he noted, "Back when I was 21 years old, I got my first job with MTV as a VJ. I knew that I had a big chance of hosting my own reality show." This experience shaped his understanding of how to bring his personality to the forefront while ensuring that the show's format resonated with its audience.
He explained, "If you are hosting a reality show, then you have to bring out your personality. You can’t be copying somebody. There are certain things you have to keep in mind, but you must present the show in a way that reflects your personality."
Varun also discussed how hosting a show of this caliber impacts his career trajectory. "When I get a lead role in a show, the trust of people increases. They think, 'We can put our money on this guy, and he can deliver,'" he noted. He shared, "For me, every show or film I do, I have to give my best. My entire idea was that I need to ensure that the people who put money into the show see a great return."
The pressure of delivering a quality product is something Sood takes seriously. He feels a responsibility not just to the producers but also to the audience. "If they are ready to put money on me and the product turns out great, then it benefits me in securing more projects in the future," he explained.
Authenticity in reality television is often debated, with many questioning the line between entertainment and real-life experiences. Sood believes that the success of "Reality Ranis Of The Jungle" hinges on its genuine portrayal of participants. He affirmed, "I wanted to come across as a very fair host, and none of the women complained about me being unfair. It was crucial for me to create an environment where everyone felt comfortable and valued."
In a genre where manipulation and drama often take center stage, Varun's dedication to fairness sets a positive tone for the series. His collaborative approach with the production team ensured that the show maintains a level of integrity that is often missing in reality formats. "We finally achieved a process that reflects our commitment to authenticity," he stated.
