TV actor Ashish Kapoor was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra in connection with an alleged rape case.
According to the police, the case was registered at Delhi's Civil Lines police station on August 11. The actor was tracked in Pune by the police via his movements across different locations.
As per the HT report, a woman in her complaint has alleged that Ashish sexually assaulted her during a house party in Delhi in the second week of August, according to the police.
The woman had filed an FIR on August 11 and after that, the police launched a search for the actor.
According to the Police, earlier the woman has named five people in the FIR - Ashish Kapoor, his friend, the friend's wife, and two unnamed people. She later retracted her claim, claiming that Ashish was the only one who had sexually assaulted her.
She also alleged that the incident was filmed, though investigators have so far not found any such footage. In addition, the woman claimed that Ashish Kapoor’s friend’s wife physically assaulted her outside the washroom following the alleged assault.
An investigation is underway right now, and police are probing the entire matter.
A senior police official told Hindustan Times: "The team has been looking for him. He was earlier traced to Goa, but when the team reached, he slipped away. He was then traced to Pune, where he was found living with a friend and was arrested on Tuesday."
According to the Police FIR, the victim is a Gurugram-based professional.
Ashish is a known name in the TV industry. He has worked in many hit TV shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Saraswatichandra, Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha, Woh Apna Sa, and Bandini.
