The Great Indian Kapil Show: boAt CEO Aman Gupta reveals how wealth affects relationships

In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, host Kapil Sharma welcomed some of India’s top entrepreneurs, including Aman Gupta (boAt), Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Ritesh Agarwal (OYO Rooms), and Ghazal Alagh (Mamaearth).

The conversation took a candid turn when the discussion shifted to how wealth impacts personal relationships.

Aman Gupta didn’t hold back. “When money starts coming in, people around you start judging you,” he said. “When money starts coming in people around you start judging you, they say, ‘ab to yeh bada aadmi ban gaya hai.’ They don’t know that I was always a bada aadmi in my eyes. But you should not be pompous, my mother says that even Ravan’s pride did not last. This keeps me down to earth. It is important to stay humble. Your downfall starts when you let it get to your head.”

Vijay Shekhar Sharma added: “This is the problem in India, one person climbing the ladder is trying to pull the other one down.” The discussion was peppered with humor as Kapil interrupted to joke about a behind-the-scenes moment.

When the crew paused to fix Vijay’s shirt, Kapil quipped, “Don’t take cut for all these things like something is stuck on the shirt, nobody will even see that. They will be calculating how much money these people have. Don’t take break for all these things, it is because of these things that I came here from the other channel.”

The episode also featured lighthearted moments. Vijay revealed his love for pani puri, saying, “People often get surprised looking at the place I eat golgappas from, but I grew up eating here and that’s why my immunity is so strong.” He declared, with a grin, “Delhi ki golgappe best hai."
