House Mates to premiere on Zee 5

This September, audiences who are seeking a healthy dose of humour, excitement, and a hint of the paranormal are in for a treat. The digital premiere of House Mates, a Tamil film that defies easy categorisation and combines comedy, fantasy, and horror into an oddball experience, has been announced by ZEE5.

The film will be available to stream exclusively on the platform from 19th September 2025.

Directed by T. Raja Vel and produced by Sivakarthikeyan and S. Vijayaprakash under the SK Productions banner, House Mates stars Darshan and Aarsha Chandini Baiju in the lead. They are joined by an eclectic supporting cast including Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Dheena, Abdool Lee, and young Master Henrik.

Adding further flavour to the film is its music, composed by Rajesh Murugesan, known for the cult hits Premam and Neram.

Karthik (Darshan) and Anu (Aarsha Chandini Baiju), a newlywed couple eager to move into their first home together, are at the centre of this story. However, some extraordinary secrets soon surface from their ordinary flat. Strange events start to appear, all of which appear to be connected to another family that lives in a different era.

What begins as a recognisable home scene swiftly devolves into a puzzle where fear and comedy coexist and fantasy and unfiltered emotion clash.

For actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan, the film represents both risk and reward. “House Mates is very close to my heart as a producer. From the very beginning, I believed this story had the right balance of mystery, humour, and freshness to connect with today’s audiences.
