In the latest update in firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s home, Mumbai police have recovered the gun that was used in the firing by the two accused Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal. The gun has been recovered from Tapi river in Surat, Gujarat. The two accused were also arrested from Gujarat’s Bhuj district.
The two arrested men had told the police during interrogation that they threw the weapon into the Tapi river here from a railway bridge when they were in a train on their way to Bhuj. The duo allegedly fired outside 58-year-old Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra, Mumbai on April 14 and then fled the spot on a motorcycle.
Salman Khan is in Dubai for an event and he left amid tight security after the incident as he didn’t want to cancel his professional commitments.
His worried family members and friends from the industry and political world have been visiting the actor ever since the shooting incident. Fans have prayed for Salman Khan’s well-being.
The two were produced in court on Monday and sent to custody until April 25. The police had told the court that the two men had fired at the actor’s house with the intention of killing him. Further investigations are on, and a third person was detained in Haryana in connection with the case as he was in touch with both shooters.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol, via a Facebook post, had taken responsibility for the incident and termed it a ‘trailer’.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had also met the actor and his father, Salim Khan. He had also spoken with the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take stock of the security of the actor.
Salman Khan has Y Plus security, and it has also been beefed up post-attack. His brother Arbaaz had also issued a statement on behalf of the Khan family, saying they were “taken aback by this incident.’
The statement also said that reports of them not being bothered by this firing are untrue. And they also said no member of their family has issued any such ‘loose statement’.
In a note on his social media account, a disturbed Arbaaz wrote: “The recent incident of firing by two unidentified persons on a motorcycle at Galaxy Apartment, the residence of the Salim Khan family, is very disturbing and unnerving. Our family has been taken aback by this shocking incident that took place. Unfortunately, some people claiming to be close to our family and pretending to be the spokesperson have been making loose statements to the media, saying it's all a publicity stunt and the family remains unaffected, which is not true, and these views should not be taken seriously. No member of the Salim Khan family has made any statement regarding this incident to the media. At this time, the family is helping and cooperating with the police in the investigation of this untoward incident. We have faith in the Mumbai police, and we have been assured they will do everything in their power to protect and secure our family. Thank you everyone for your love and support.”
