Saif Ali Khan had major injury to spinal cord due to a lodged knife: Dr Nitin Dange

Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked in his Mumbai residence during the early hours of January 16, is now reported to be in a stable condition following a critical surgery. Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital provided an update on the actor’s health, confirming that Saif sustained a serious injury to his thoracic spinal cord after a knife lodged in his spine during the attack.

The incident occurred around 2 am when an unidentified intruder broke into Saif’s Bandra home and attacked him during an alleged burglary attempt. The actor confronted the assailant to protect his family, leading to a violent scuffle. Dr Dange stated, “Saif Ali Khan was admitted to the hospital at 2 am with alleged history of assault by some unknown person. He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid.”

In addition to the spinal injury, Saif also suffered two deep wounds on his left hand and one on his neck. These injuries were addressed by a specialised plastic surgery team. "Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now," the surgeon assured.

The attack has sent shockwaves across the film industry and among fans, raising concerns about the safety of celebrities in their homes. Mumbai Police have launched an extensive investigation to apprehend the attacker. Preliminary reports suggest the intruder may have been aided by someone familiar with the premises, as no unauthorised entry was recorded on CCTV during the hours preceding the incident.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has confirmed that the rest of the family, including their two children, Taimur and Jeh, are safe. She also urged fans and the media to refrain from speculation and allow the authorities to conduct their investigation.
