Saif Ali Khan was attacked and stabbed six times by an intruder, identified as Shariful Islam Shahzad, a Bangladeshi national. Shahzad, who allegedly attacked Saif during a robbery attempt, is currently in police custody with his detention extended until January 29, 2025.

The accused in the stabbing incident was arrested and brought to Saif Ali Khan's residence by Mumbai Police for a reenactment of the events that took place on January 16. The crime scene was recreated by the police on Tuesday, as part of their investigation into the knife attack at the actor's upscale Bandra home.

According to Indian Express, Mumbai Police are investigating whether accomplices were involved in the recent attack on Saif Ali Khan. Authorities have obtained CCTV footage showing the accused near Saif’s residence and other locations around Mumbai. They plan to conduct a facial recognition test to track the suspect’s movements and identify him.

In addition to the weapon used in the attack, police have seized the suspect’s clothing, SIM card, and bag. Forensic tests are being conducted on blood samples from Saif, witnesses, and the accused. The suspect has been uncooperative regarding the origin of the weapon.
In his statement to the police, Saif recounted the incident, explaining how he and Kareena were asleep in their bedroom on the 11th floor when they were alarmed by the screams of their nanny, Eliyama Phillip. Rushing to their son Jehangir's room, they confronted an unknown intruder.

Amid the chaos, Jehangir was crying, and as Saif tried to overpower the attacker, he was stabbed multiple times in the back, neck, and arms. Despite the injuries, Saif managed to push the intruder away, while the staff swiftly evacuated Jehangir and locked the assailant in the room.

Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21, after a five-day stay. He underwent a five-hour surgery, with two of his wounds being deep.
