Robert De Niro starrer Netflix series Zero Day has recently been released on the streaming platform and it has already created a buzz among fans.
However, this was the first time De Niro starred in a TV series. The six-episode thriller series explores the dynamics of cyber warfare, power struggles, and secrets.
The Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro stars as a former US president and nailed his role. Created by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, the limited series offers an intriguing, high-stakes look at a catastrophic cyber-attack.
In a recent interview with Netflix, Eric Newman explained the plot of the series and said, “Zero Day is about the aftermath of a devastating cyberattack that kills thousands of people and threatens to push a nation already on the precipice over the edge.”
Pulitzer Prize winner Michael S Schmidt served as executive producer and writer. Robert De Niro has also produced the limited series. The series follows De Niro’s character who was called back into action to head a truth-seeking inquiry into a cyber attack. However, the attack paralysed the nation causing thousands of deaths.
Netflix’s Zero Day also stars Angela Bassett, Jesse Plemons and Lizzy Caplan in key roles. The limited series has received critical acclamation from both critics and audiences.
Robert De Niro has been in Hollywood for more than 60 years and has starred in multiple blockbusters including, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Awakenings, Cape Fear, Silver Linings Playbook and Killers of the Flower Moon. De Niro has won some notable recognition including Oscars for his roles as Vito Corleone in the 1974 film The Godfather Part II and Jake LaMotta in the 1980 movie Raging Bull.
