Mammootty's Kalamkaval hit the theatres on December 5 with mixed reviews and a decent box office collection. The thriller, which also features Vinayakan in a major part, has high expectations, but the film seems to be struggling to meet the numbers.
According to the trade website, Kalamkaval earned Rs 5.25 crore net in India on its second day of release, taking the total collection to Rs 10.25 crore net in India. The film registered 49.32% Malayalam occupancy with 30.01% footfall during the morning show, which was later increased by 44.02% during the afternoon, 56.73% in the evening and 66.53% occupancy during the night.
The film opened in the theatres with Rs 5 crore net in India. Kalamkaval officially surpassed Bazooka, Dominic, and The Ladies' Purse's first-day receipts with Rs 5 crore.
The film is expected to see a surge on its first Sunday after more than 120 shows, especially evening and night ones, were added on December 5.
