A court hearing took place on Wednesday, July 30, against actor Rajkummar Rao in connection with a long-pending case related to a controversial promotional poster for the 2017 film Behen Hogi Teri.
On Monday, July 28, Rao turned himself in at Judge Srijan Shukla's JMIC (Judicial Magistrate Ist Class) court in Jalandhar. This came after an arrest warrant had been issued for Rao's nonattendance at court. The actor was given conditional bail after he appeared in person.
Rajkummar's attorney, Darshan Singh Dayal, claims that Rajkummar was not in court during the Wednesday hearing in Jalandhar. The case stems from a 2017 poster that caused some religious groups to take offence.
The picture, which was posted online on April 4 of that year, featured Rajkummar Rao sitting on a silver motorcycle with a UP license plate while dressed as Lord Shiva.
An FIR was filed against Rao, co-star Shruti Haasan, the film's producer, director, and deputy director as a result of the outrage the portrayal caused. Section 67 of the IT Act, Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), and Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) were among the charges.
Non-bailable warrants against the actor were also issued as a result of these grave accusations.

Rajkummar's legal counsel reiterated that the poster was never meant to offend and that his client would cooperate fully with the legal proceedings.
On the professional front, Rajkummar Rao was last seen in Maalik, co-starring Manushi Chhillar.
