Bollywood actress Preity Zinta recently attended the Maha Kumbh Mela, a grand spiritual gathering that attracts millions of devotees and visitors. Sharing her experience on social media, she described it as “magical, heartwarming, and a bit sad.”

Preity revealed that this was her third time attending the Kumbh Mela, and the trip held special significance as she was accompanied by her mother. She expressed how deeply moving the journey was, particularly as it made her reflect on life, death, and the strong attachments people hold on to.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “This was my third time at the Kumbh Mela & it was magical, heartwarming & a bit sad. Magical because no matter how hard I try, I cannot explain how I felt. Heartwarming because I went with my mom & it meant the world to her.”

However, she also shared a philosophical realisation she had during the trip, stating, “Sad, because I wanted to be liberated from the various cycles of life & death only to realize the duality of life & attachment. Am I ready to let go of my family, my children & the people I love? No! I’m not!”

Preity Zinta further reflected on the power of emotional and spiritual ties that bind human beings. She admitted that the experience at the Kumbh Mela was deeply moving, leading her to contemplate the nature of existence.

She shared, “It’s deeply moving & humbling when it dawns on you, that the strings of attachment are strong & mighty & no matter what your attachment is, eventually your spiritual journey & the journey ahead is solo!”

This introspection led her to a profound thought: “I came back with the notion that—we are not human beings having a spiritual experience but spiritual beings having a human experience.”

This year, the festival also attracted several Bollywood celebrities, including Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, and others. The presence of these stars at such a significant spiritual event highlighted the festival’s cultural and religious importance.

During her visit, Preity Zinta took a dip in the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. This ritual is believed to cleanse the soul and help in breaking free from the cycle of birth and rebirth.

She also explored various holy sites around the Kumbh Mela, sharing glimpses of her spiritual journey with her fans. Her social media post captured the essence of her experience, showcasing both devotion and introspection.

Concluding her post, she wrote, “Beyond this, I don’t know, but I’m confident, my curiosity will definitely pave the way towards all the answers I seek… till then … हर हरमहादेव. Ting.”

Mahakumbh comes to an end on Maha Shivratri today (February 26).
