Last year, the Justice Hema Committee Report brought attention to the pervasive and ongoing sexual harassment that women in Malayalam film industry endured. This revelation caused quite a stir.

Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu has criticised the government's reluctance to act on the report's, and on Monday she tagged the Chief Minister of Kerala in an Instagram story in which she made the accusation.

There was a report in The Hindu on June 3, which said that the Kerala Police has decided to drop all the cases which were reported from the Hema Committee report talking about sexual misconduct in the indusyry. “According to official sources, despite repeated summons by both the SIT and the court, the survivors declined to provide statements in connection with the cases,” added the report.

Shocking allegations of sexual harassment, exploitation, and other forms of mistreatment against women in Malayalam cinema were detailed in the Hema Committee report, which brought attention to the problem.

According to the report, female performers in the film business experienced harassment, including drunk people pounding on their hotel doors. Actually, a lot of women were afraid to speak up, so they didn't. Additionally, it stated that younger artists are treated 'worse than slaves in Malayalam film industry,' and that basic conveniences like women's restrooms are lacking.
