Param Sundari box office collection: Sidharth Malhotra, Jahnvi Kapoor rom-com opens descent with Rs 7.25 on day 1

A cross-cultural romance between a Delhi boy and a girl from Kerala, Param Sundari brings together Sidharth and Janhvi in fresh onscreen chemistry.

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest rom-com, Param Sundari, directed by Tushar Jalota, has made a respectable start at the box office after its release on August 29.

According to early estimates by industry trade site, the film collected Rs 7.25 crore on Day 1, giving it a fair opening despite being a non-holiday release.

On Friday, the movie had an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.92%, with foot traffic gradually increasing throughout the day. Morning shows saw an occupancy of 8.19%, which rose to 11.45% in the afternoon and 12.27% in the evening.

As more people went to the movies later in the day, the numbers showed a positive growth trend, peaking at 19.77% at night.

Moneycontrol’s review of the film reads as, “Param Sundari, in the end, turns out to be a film that entertains in parts but struggles to maintain consistency. The comedy works occasionally, while at other times it falls flat, leaving you restless. Sachin-Jigar’s lively soundtrack gives the film its much-needed heartbeat. Director Tushar Jalota, in only his second film, shows promise in his attempt to mix humour, romance, and drama, but the execution wavers.”

With its decent opening and positive momentum in evening shows, the film now looks forward to gaining stronger word-of-mouth in the coming days to sustain at the box office.
