The Malayalam movie Pani, directed by Joju George, has garnered mixed reviews from audiences on social media, with many pointing to its lackluster storyline and pacing, though Joju George’s performance is widely praised. The reactions on Twitter reflect a combination of disappointment with the film’s overall execution and appreciation for certain performances.

Unni Rajendran expressed his thoughts on the film, stating, “#Pani seems to be a failure attempt from #JojuGeorge. Repeating the Thrissur Local gangster dramas… #Sagar & #Junais delivered their best.” This sentiment captures a recurring criticism that the movie doesn’t offer much novelty and recycles a familiar narrative structure.

Another user, Mr. J, was more detailed in his critique, tweeting, “#Pani: Old wine in new bottle , Old wine in old bottle . Pani had every potential to be good but ended up being mid. Pani was watchable only because of the lead actor’s performance. With a wafer-thin plot and narration felt flat most of the times. Pani felt tiring and tedious.” Mr. J highlights how the film struggles due to its weak script, despite Joju George’s acting skills keeping it somewhat afloat.

Vishnu Narayanan, however, had a more optimistic take, tweeting, “Wondering why this film didn’t get A certificate. @CINEMAA Joju’s debut is visible. Not a tight screenplay. But he did a good job as a first-timer. Editing is avg. Slow first half, much better thrilling second half. Will be a hit, likely.” Vishnu’s tweet acknowledges the uneven pacing but suggests that the movie may still find an audience due to a stronger second half.

Not all feedback was encouraging, though. Aditya Binu, in a scathing review, tweeted, “Watched #Pani. It’s a poorly written revenge drama which tests our patience throughout. Weak direction & Amateurish performances. Davis character super. Sagar good. Junais ok. Others incl Joju were dummy pieces. Thin plot. Too lengthy. BGM Trailer editor needs a 1/5 #PaniMovie.” He particularly criticizes the direction, pacing, and lack of depth in the supporting characters, ultimately rating it 1/5.
Abin Babu shared a similar disappointment but offered some hope for Joju George’s potential as a director, writing, “#Pani - An Average Flick Which Have Only Few High Moments..! There are Flaws In Script & Joju’s Making Cleared Them To a Watchable One.. #JojuGeorge Have Potential To Make a Good Commercial Entertainer if He Gets a Good Script
