"Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar"'s story revolves around Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) who runs the house of courtesans and she loves to scheme so that nobody is able to take over her reigns. But with the return of her arch-rival's daughter, Fareedan played by Sonakshi Sinha, tensions between the two soar and leads to division in the courtesans house.
In this backdrop, there is freedom fight simmering, Bibbojaan played by Aditi Rao Hydari (who is one of Mallika Jaan's daughters) joins the freedom movement. She says "kabhi kothe wali ki jagah mulk wali hokar sochiye".
Outside, the city is also roiling, with revolutionaries demanding India’s freedom from British rule, with Bibbojaan (Aditi Rao Hydari), one of Mallika Jaan's daughters, joining the fight for freedom.
Sonakshi Sinha as Fareedan is impressive, her dialogue delivery is bang on.
One can also see Richa Chaddha, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Fardeen Khan are also seen in the trailer. One of dialogues mouthed by Shekhar Suman to Mallika Jaan (Manisha Koirala) is "issi talab mein nangi tairti nazar ayengi aap" and it perfectly shows the expressions of fear on the face of Mallika Jaan. The dialogues of Bhansali's movies are always appreciated by the fans of his movies.
"Heeramandi" will stream from May 1 on Netflix. Post Heeramandi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be working on his next venture, a love triangle, with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
