Actress Nayanthara, who celebrated her 40th birthday today, November 18, unveiled the title teaser of her upcoming film Rakkayie. The actress is in a never-seen-before avatar in the thriller teaser.

The actor shared the title teaser of the period action movie on her official Instagram page along with the caption, "In a land where justice is but a memory… There lived a mother whose world was her child… But when her daughter’s life is threatened by a monster… She does not flee… She does not falter… Instead, she declares war."

The 2.34-minute teaser reveals Nayanthara in a fierce new role, armed with a sickle and a staff as she defends her baby from an approaching group of men. Set in a hut with her child, she calmly feeds the baby before stepping out to confront the attackers in a powerful, never-before-seen avatar.

Rakkayie, written and directed by debutant filmmaker Senthil Nallasamy, is a Tamil film produced by Drumsticks Productions and MovieVerse Studios. The film is set to release in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

To mark her special day, the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale debuted on Netflix, offering an in-depth look into her film career and the love story between her and her husband, Vignesh Shivan.

The Jawan actress also recently made headlines due to a legal dispute with actor Dhanush, who filed a Rs 10 crore lawsuit against her. The conflict stems from her documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, which allegedly includes behind-the-scenes footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Nayanthara claimed that she had sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Dhanush to use the footage but received no reply. In an open letter, she criticized Dhanush for his lack of response and described the lawsuit as unwarranted.

Dhanush's legal representative stated that as the producer of the film, Dhanush was fully aware of every expenditure involved in its production. They also clarified that the claim suggesting Dhanush had not authorized anyone to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage was baseless, and demanded concrete proof to support the allegation.
