Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former cricketer and ex-judge of The Kapil Sharma Show has returned to the show after a gap of five years. In a new promo for The Great Indian Kapil Show, it was revealed that Sidhu would be appearing on the show as a guest, sitting in the judge’s chair once again. This surprising return has sparked reactions from the show's regular cast, especially from Archana Puran Singh, who replaced Sidhu as the judge after his exit in 2019.
The promo shows a funny moment where Kapil Sharma pretends that Archana Puran Singh has had a makeover, making her look like Sidhu. In the clip, Sidhu sits in the judge’s seat, and Archana looks shocked and somewhat lost. She walks onto the stage and says, "Kapil, tell Sardar sahab to get off my seat. He’s taken over my spot." This playful exchange highlights the tension between the two, with Kapil humorously trying to make the situation more light-hearted.
Harbhajan Singh, who is also part of the episode, sides with Sidhu in the debate over the judge’s seat. He adds, “No matter who takes over the seat, they cannot replace Sidhu.”
Despite the fun and jokes in the promo, the makers of the show clarified that Sidhu is not returning as a permanent judge. He will appear as a guest along with his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu. The couple will be joined by Harbhajan Singh and his wife, actress Geeta Basra, in the upcoming episode.
Sidhu's return to The Kapil Sharma Show has been eagerly awaited by many fans. His departure from the show in 2019 had been surrounded by controversy. Sidhu had been a part of the show since its early days and became famous for his humorous comments, punchlines, and energetic presence. However, in 2019, he was asked to leave the show after his remarks on the Pulwama attack led to a public backlash.

At the time, there was no official statement from the channel about Sidhu’s exit. However, a source close to the situation told The Indian Express that the channel had decided to ask Sidhu to leave after the controversy. Sidhu was replaced by Archana Puran Singh, who has remained the show’s judge since then.
Sidhu himself spoke about his exit on social media, explaining that he had to attend the Vidhan Sabha session, which caused him to miss some shoots for The Kapil Sharma Show. He said, “I had to attend Vidhan Sabha’s session due to which I couldn’t go for the shoots of The Kapil Sharma Show and they got somebody else in my replacement for two episodes.” Sidhu went on to add, “I have no intimation about my termination from the channel. If it is regarding my statement, I will stick to what I have been saying yesterday, today, and ever tomorrow.”
Though his time on the show ended abruptly, Sidhu remained unapologetic about his views and continued to make headlines for his political and public comments. The reasons for his exit were a mix of personal and professional issues, but his return to the show, even as a guest, seems to be an attempt to reconnect with his fans and the Kapil Sharma family.
Now, after a gap of five years, Sidhu’s return is being seen as a reunion, especially by his fans who had missed his lively and spontaneous humor on the show. The upcoming episode with him, Archana, Harbhajan, and their wives is expected to be full of fun and entertainment, with fans excited to see Sidhu's unique style of humor and his camaraderie with Kapil and the rest of the cast.
