Veteran actress and Punjabi theatre artist Navnindra Behl passed away at the age of 76 on March 16. Her son and filmmaker Kanu Behl announced her death through a heartfelt post on social media.

Nakuul Mehta, who collaborated with Navnindra Bahl in Ishqbaaz, recently honoured the veteran artist with a heartfelt and lengthy tribute.

Nakuul Mehta posted a collection of photos on his social media with his Ishqbaaz co-star Navnindra Behl and reminisced about their fond times on set. He started with the words, "The charm of enduring TV series lies in their ability to let you engage with characters from very different worlds than your own, only to have them, almost enchantingly, influence a major aspect of your identity during those times." Even after the experience has concluded, aspects of what they represented persist in residing within you.”

Additionally, he reflected on his memories with the departed soul and noted, "We shared countless days on a common ground and enjoyed many lunches during the three years we collaborated on Ishqbaaaz. I would frequently grumble about the dull sabzis (like lauki and karela) she brought, yet she would keep insisting we taste her dishes. She persisted. I never surrendered. My first memory of her was shooting my initial scene with her on Ishqbaaaz at about midnight in Turbhe. A serious moment shared between the matriarch and her grandson. Her presence had a quality that made you feel completely engaged in every moment. She enjoyed practice sessions. I felt the same way. It was a connection destined to happen. I mention this because, in television, discipline and mostly time for numerous rehearsals are seldom available.”

He later mentioned that he would frequently take her home if they finished the shoot at the same time. "I frequently gave her a ride home when we finished at the same time, and those trips are among my most cherished memories of her. She would be thrilled to respond to every audience member who contacted her on Instagram (she welcomed technology). She was excited to work together with Vishal Bhardwaj.” Nakuul wrote about how she expressed deep affection for her husband and their romance and especially for her son, Kanu Behl, whom she thought was an amazing filmmaker.

The actor finished his heartfelt message by stating, "We maintained our connection over the years long after the show wrapped up, and Jankee and I had the privilege of honouring her on her 75th birthday in October 2024. I’m not sure I ever referred to her as 'ma'am'! None of us did. It was consistently Dadi. We're going to miss you, Dadi."
