Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, often referred to as the "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali," was revered worldwide for his powerful and emotive voice.

The enchanting voice of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will once again resonate with fans worldwide as a new album of previously unreleased recordings by the late Qawwali maestro is set for release in September.

Titled 'Chain of Light,' this album was discovered in the archives of British musician Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records. The label, which signed Khan in 1989, released a series of critically acclaimed albums with him throughout the 1990s. Now, the label has announced that 'Chain of Light' will be released on September 20, as per a press release.

Reflecting on his collaboration with Khan, Peter Gabriel shared on the label's official website, “I’ve had the honor of working with numerous musicians globally, but Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan stands out as perhaps the greatest singer of them all. His voice had a unique ability to evoke profound emotions, and we are incredibly proud to have played a part in bringing his music to a broader global audience. Discovering this tape in our library was a real joy. This album captures him at his peak and is truly remarkable.”

The recordings, which were unearthed from deep within a warehouse storage space at Real World Studios in England, were discovered during the label's archival relocation in 2021. According to the press release, the tape that forms "Chain of Light" showcases Khan at a pivotal moment in his career, on the verge of achieving global recognition.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, often referred to as the "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali," was revered worldwide for his powerful and emotive voice. Born in 1948 in Faisalabad, Pakistan, he hailed from a family deeply rooted in Qawwali, a form of Sufi devotional music. Khan's ability to blend traditional Qawwali with contemporary music styles earned him international acclaim and played a significant role in popularising the genre globally.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Nusrat's contributions to music were monumental, earning him numerous accolades and securing his legacy as one of the greatest voices ever recorded. He passed away unexpectedly in 1997 at the age of 48 due to a cardiac arrest.
