In the song, Halsey sings, “But I’m so lucky, I’m a star, but I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking, if there’s nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night.”

Halsey has been feeding us with insane Y2K inspired promo for her upcoming single ‘Lucky’ off of her fifth album. She has been teasing the song and Britney Spears also has a song titled ‘Lucky.’ Fans quickly jumped to speculation whether the 2000s promo is inspired by Britney. They questioned whether Halsey will collaborate with Spears or if she’ll sample a song. It seems like the latter is true, as confirmed by Halsey.

The singer songwriter posted a video on her social media account of herself posing and grooving to Halsey’s upcoming song. In the song, Halsey sings, “But I’m so lucky, I’m a star, but I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking, if there’s nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night.”

Halsey also wrote a sweet caption to honour Britney Spears, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever.”

On July 25, 2000, Britney Spears unveiled "Lucky," the second single from her sophomore album. Crafted by Max Martin, Rami Yacoub, and Alexander Kronlund, the track narrates the tale of a celebrated actress named Lucky. Despite her glittering success and public admiration, she grapples with deep feelings of sadness and isolation.

“She’s so lucky, she’s a star / but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking / if there’s nothing missing in my life / then why do these tears come at night?” Britney Spears sings in ‘Lucky.’

‘Lucky’ is part of Halsey’s fifth album. She recently released a heart wrenching song titled ‘The End.’ The singer revealed serious medical diagnoses in the song.

“In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life. After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to. I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all Singing and screaming my heart out,” Halsey wrote.
