South African global sensation Tyla arrived in Mumbai on Saturday to a warm and enthusiastic welcome from fans who gathered at the airport to greet the Grammy-winning artist. The 23-year-old singer, best known for her viral chart-topping hit Water, is in the country for her highly anticipated debut performance in India.
Tyla is set to perform on December 7, 2025, at the Indian Sneaker Festival 2025, taking place at the sprawling MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The two-day festival kicked off on December 6 and has already drawn massive crowds with its fusion of music, culture, and sneaker artistry.
The singer’s India stop is part of her global festival tour, and her set is expected to be one of the event’s biggest highlights. Audiences can look forward to a high-energy performance featuring her signature Afropop sound and hits including Water, which not only earned her global acclaim but also a Grammy Award, making her one of the youngest African artists to win the honour.
Tyla will join an impressive international lineup at the festival. This year’s edition features an eclectic mix of artists such as American rapper Lil Yachty and renowned Belgian techno DJ Charlotte de Witte.
Expressing her excitement earlier, she had said, "I’m thrilled to be part of the Indian Sneaker Festival. It’s incredible to see such a vibrant landscape dedicated to sneaker and street culture in India. I look forward to connecting with all my fans in India for the very first time."

The Indian Sneaker Festival, now one of the country’s top youth-culture events, blends music, fashion, and street culture. Tyla’s inclusion as the headline act reflects the rising influence of global Afropop and the growing appetite for diverse international music experiences in India.
The Mumbai edition is expected to attract over 60000 attendees over the two days, making it the festival’s most ambitious outing yet.
With her Mumbai debut just hours away, fans are gearing up for a night that could mark a new cultural moment.
