Rajinikanth cast his vote early in the morning on April 19, urging fans to follow suit. Separately, the title of the superstar's 171st film is expected to be announced on April 22.

Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is being held today (April 19) and superstar Rajinikanth was an early one to cast his vote in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. ‘Thalaiva’ Rajinikanth was seen wearing white T-shirt and trousers as he waited for his turn inside the booth. The actor then went inside to vote and later showed his inked finger.

There were many photographers who wanted to catch a glimpse of the veteran actor.

Rajinikanth, 73, spoke to the media after casting his vote. In his statement to the press, he urged everyone to cast their vote. He said that there is no pride in saying that you have not voted. He added that it is a duty of a citizen to vote and urged everyone to cast their vote.

There was chaos outside the polling booth as Rajinikanth left after casting his vote.

Polling for all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu is being held on April 19. It also marks the beginning of the 2024 general elections. This phase serves as a litmus test for the BJP's aspirations to emerge as a significant political force challenging the dominance of Dravidian Parties in the state.

Notably, the BJP failed to secure any seats in Tamil Nadu during the 2019 elections. During the 2019 elections, the DMK-led alliance swept 39 out of the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

With nearly 6.23 crore electors in Tamil Nadu, a total of 950 candidates are in contention for the upcoming polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made multiple visits to the state during election campaigns, indicating the BJP's concerted efforts to establish a foothold.

However, the primary contenders remain the Dravidian heavyweights, including the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
