Fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel to the 2016 romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam ever since its successful re-release in cinemas in February 2025. The film, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, experienced a resurgence in popularity nine years after its initial release.

Now, in an exclusive conversation with Hindi Rush, co-director Vinay Sapru has shed light on the highly anticipated Sanam Teri Kasam 2, revealing key details about the star cast.

Directors Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao engaged in a detailed discussion about the making of Sanam Teri Kasam, its initial box office performance, the success of its re-release, and the plans for the sequel.

When the topic of the star cast for the sequel arose, Vinay Sapru made it clear: "Mawra (Hocane) to nahi hai (Mawra Hocane won't be there)." This statement follows recent online activity from Harshvardhan Rane. A few days prior, the actor shared on his Instagram stories that he would not be part of the sequel if the previous cast were to return, seemingly hinting at Mawra Hocane. This led to a brief online exchange between the two actors.The conversation with Vinay Sapru also delved into the reasons behind Sanam Teri Kasam's initial underwhelming performance at the box office. Sapru revealed that they felt "almost betrayed" by the studio involved.

He explained that the film was acquired with significant promises regarding promotions, but as time went on, the studio's team became increasingly unresponsive, even avoiding their calls. Sapru further elaborated on the lack of promotional support for the film, stating that the marketing team showed little interest, even after the film demonstrated a steady performance in its first four days. He recounted a particularly disheartening incident: "When I requested the marketing head to give it a chance, she told me, 'Next time, make a better film and come. I had to force my assistants to watch your film. Your film is so pathetic.' "Despite the initial setbacks, Vinay Sapru shared exciting news about Sanam Teri Kasam 2.

He revealed that he and Radhika Rao had conceived plans for a sequel even during the making of the first film. However, the disappointing performance of the first installment forced them to put those plans on hold. Now, with the overwhelming demand for a sequel following the film's successful re-release, they are actively working on Sanam Teri Kasam 2.
