Playback singer Kumar Sanu has once again found himself in the spotlight, but this time not for his music. The singer recently made headlines after his ex-wife, Rita Bhattacharya, made a series of serious allegations against him during an interview.
Following this, in a fresh turn of events, Moneycontrol has learnt that Advocate Sana Raees Khan has sent a legal notice on behalf of Kumar Sanu to Rita Bhattacharya, accusing her of defamation.
Just a few days ago, Rita in an interview to Film Window where she openly spoke about her past with the singer. In her statements, she claimed that she was the one who had truly helped Kumar Sanu build his career in the early days.
Kumar Sanu has refuted Rita’s statements, and has responded through legal means, issuing a notice against her for defamation.
His lawyer, Sana Raees Khan stated, "For over 40 years, Mr Kumar Sanu has poured his soul into music, giving joy to millions and earning love and respect across the world. Hurtful Lies may create noise for a moment, but they can never erase the legacy of an artist who has given a lifetime of music and memories to generations."
She continued, "We will ensure that malicious attempts to defame him are met with the full force of the law to protect his dignity, legacy and family honour. No individual or media platform has the right to malign a father’s honour or trade his family’s respect for sensationalism. Upon receiving our legal notice, Viral Bhayani has duly taken down the defamatory video from its platform."
Rita's allegations
Rita went on to allege that Kumar Sanu had mistreated her and even subjected her to torture during her third pregnancy, when she was expecting their youngest son, Jaan Kumar Sanu.
These remarks quickly spread across social media after being picked up by various paparazzi and entertainment pages. Within hours, the story had gone viral, drawing public attention and sparking a debate online.
