The comedy-drama Kudumbasthan hit the theatres on January 24, 2025. The film was a commercial hit and fans have been waiting for its OTT release since its debut in the theatres. However, the viewers will have to wait longer to stream the Tamil film on OTT. The film was previously expected to hit the streaming platform on February 28, but its release date has been postponed.
According to reports by OTTplay, Kudumbasthan digital release has reportedly been pushed by a week. The film will now be available to stream on Zee5 from March 7. It stars K Manikandan, who is known for his standout role in Jai Bhim. Kudumbasthan received critical acclaim and emerged as a commercial success. The Tamil film also features Saanve Megghana in the lead role, alongside Guru Somasundaram in a crucial supporting role.
Rajeshwar Kalisamy made his directorial debut with the Kudumbasthan and has also co-penned the screenplay with Prasanna Balachandran. The film is produced by S Vinoth Kumar under the Cinemakaaran banner. Kudumbasthan features a soundtrack by Vaisagh, meanwhile, Sujith N. Subramaniam was the cinematographer.
Despite its modest budget and limited promotions, Kudumbasthan defied expectations to become a surprise box office hit, grossing an approximately Rs 25.93 crore nett. The film was made with the budget of Rs 8 crore.
Kudumbasthan depicts the journey of Naveen, played by K Manikandan and Vennila aka Saanve Megghana, a couple who elope and get married despite family opposition. However, their newfound happiness is short-lived, as they face a barrage of challenges, including crippling debt and unrelenting family pressure. As Naveen's impulsive decisions threaten to derail their relationship, Vennila's unwavering love and support become the glue that holds them together.
