Megastar Amitabh Bachchan often shares intriguing stories from his life and career on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which is now in its 16th season.
In a recent episode, contestant Pranati Paidipati asked him if he checks price tags before buying something. This led to Bachchan narrating an experience where a shopkeeper in London underestimated his purchasing power, which provoked an interesting response from the actor.
Replying to the contestant's question, Big B said it's natural to check price tags.
He then shared the incident, explaining, "We were shopping around, and I was looking at a tie when the shopkeeper, in a dismissive tone, said it cost 120 pounds." Feeling disrespected by the shopkeeper’s tone, the actor recalled his reaction: "I looked right at him and responded, ‘Pack ten of these for me.’”
He added, “It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of showing our Indian spirit and confidence, even when faced with condescension. Sometimes, we have to make it clear that we are not to be underestimated.”
Fear of cockroaches
In the same episode, Amitabh Bachchan also shared his fear of cockroaches, recounting a personal anecdote. He recalled his failed attempt to trap one inside a bottle filled with insecticide. To his surprise, the cockroach escaped a week later. Laughing about the incident, he said, "Woh toh marte hin nanhi hai" (They just do not die).
After this humorous exchange, the conversation shifted to Pranati’s profession as an Android automotive developer. She expressed her passion for cars, admitting, "Main cars ki deewani hu" (I am crazy about cars). Although she doesn’t drive, Pranati jokingly offered to keep Big B entertained on a drive.
In response, Amitabh Bachchan quipped that he would think of her every time he went for a drive, adding a lighthearted close to the conversation.
