Kareena Kapoor has officially begun work on her 68th film, Daayra, a crime-drama helmed by acclaimed director Meghna Gulzar. The actress shared glimpses from the first day of shoot with Prithviraj Skumaran on Instagram, describing it as a special moment in her career while seeking love and blessings from fans.
The film brings together an exciting collaboration between Kareena and Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, marking their first project together.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, known for her powerful storytelling in films like Raazi, Talvar, and Chhapaak, Daayra promises to be another gritty exploration of human conflict, justice, and truth.
Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Pen Studios and Marudhar Entertainment, the film has already created a buzz in both Bollywood and South Indian cinema circles.
The plot remains under wraps
While exact plot details remain under wraps, reports describe Daayra as a hard-hitting crime drama that delves into the “pulse of the people” while confronting the “topical and diabolical realities unfolding in society today.”
Co-written by Meghna Gulzar along with screenwriters Yash and Sima, the film is expected to follow in the footsteps of Talvar in its examination of crime, punishment, and systemic justice.
The project is currently in pre-production with the first leg of shooting underway. Kareena was spotted reading the script and filming intense sequences alongside Prithviraj, signaling the beginning of what promises to be a powerful cinematic experience.
