Kannada movie actor Shiva Rajkumar underwent surgery in the US to get his cancerous bladder removed.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, Dr Murugesh Manoharan who performed the operation said in a video message from Miami.
Dr Murugesh Manoharan further said that an artificial bladder has been made using the actor's intestine.
Shiva Rajkumar's family released a press release to provide an update on the actor's health. The statement read: "We are pleased to share an update regarding Shiva Rajkumar's recent medical procedure. The surgery performed earlier on Wednesday was successful and we are glad to report that Shivarajkumar is now in stable condition and recovering well."
Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa and Shiva Rajkumar's wife Geetha were also seen in the video message. Geetha is Bangarappa's sister.
Dr Manoharan also said that the surgery went successfully and also mentioned that Shiva Rajkumar was stable throughout the operation. He is doing well post the operation as well.
'The actor is currently under observation to ensure his continued recovery and well-being, receiving exceptional care from a dedicated team of highly skilled doctors and medical staff,' the statement said.
The family also thanked Shiva Rajkumar's fans, colleagues and well-wishers for their prayers.
The statement further read that further updates regarding the actor's recovery will be shared in due course.
Shiva Rajkumar is the eldest son of Kannada veteran actor Rajkumar. He is the eldest of brothers Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar.
Shiva, who has worked in over 125 Kannada movies, made his debut with the movie Srinivasana Kalyana in 1974.
He is well known for his performances in movies like Janumada Jodi, Chigurida Kanasu, Jogi, Anand, Ratha Sapthami and Nammoora Mandara Hoove, Om.
