Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor's Devara Part 1 to premiere on OTT?

The highly anticipated Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Devara Part 1 hit theatres on September 27, 2024, receiving mixed reviews. While audiences praised its stunning visuals, many felt the film lacked a compelling storyline.

Despite these critiques, the movie has been a massive box office success, surpassing Rs 400 crore globally. Written and directed by Koratala Siva, the film also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Prakash Raj, and Meka Srikanth in key roles, with production backed by NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts.

As Devara Part 1 continues to perform well in theatres, it’s now preparing for its OTT debut. Reports suggest that the film will premiere on Netflix in multiple languages on November 8, 2024, though the streaming platform has yet to make an official announcement on its social media channels.

Despite its financial success, Devara Part 1 has struggled to leave a lasting impression on the audience. Jr NTR, reflecting on the film’s reception in an interview, commented on how viewers today have become overly analytical. “We, as an audience, have become very negative these days. We are not able to enjoy a film in an innocent manner anymore,” he said, adding that watching films with his children made him realize how naturally kids enjoy movies without overthinking or critiquing every detail.

Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara Part 1 features Jr NTR in dual roles as father and son, with Saif Ali Khan portraying the antagonist. Anirudh Ravichander composed the film’s score, which has been one of its widely praised elements. As the film prepares for its digital release, the makers are already gearing up for the sequel. There are reports that Bobby Deol will take on the antagonist role in Devara Part 2, although director Koratala Siva has expressed his desire to bring actors Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh on board.

In the meantime, Jr NTR is looking ahead to his next project, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film, produced by Yash Raj Films, will also star Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in prominent roles and is expected to release on August 14, 2025. While no details about the plot have been revealed yet, the movie has already generated significant excitement.
