Javed Akhtar says account hacked

On Sunday, veteran screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar alerted his fans that his X (formerly Twitter) account had been hacked.

In a tweet addressing the issue, Javed Akhtar clarified that a recent post about the Indian team for the 2024 Olympics was not written by him.

Although the message in question was deemed “harmless”, he said that it was not sent by him and announced that he was in the process of filing a complaint with the authorities.

Javed Akhtar’s followers were quick to respond. One user advised him, “Change your password immediately,” while another expressed, "Hopefully issue will be resolved soon."

However, the tweet concerning the Indian Olympic team is no longer visible on his timeline.

Amid the social media activity surrounding Javed Akhtar’s account hack, the spotlight also shone brightly on the outcome of the first day of Olympics as India's Manu Bhaker won the third prize, a bronze medal for India.

On the same day, many celebrities congratulated Manu Bhaker  on social media for winning the Bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Paris Olympics.

Bhaker’s victory marked a historic moment as she became the first Indian woman to secure an Olympic medal in shooting.

Bollywood stars were quick to celebrate Bhaker’s win. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, and Anil Kapoor, among many other celebrities, expressed their pride and congratulated the Olympics contestant on various social media platforms.

Actor Preity Zinta shared her excitement on Instagram Stories, writing, "Congratulations @bhakermanu on winning the first medal for India in Olympics 2024...",  Taapsee Pannu also took to Instagram Stories to celebrate, noting, "Opening our Olympic medal tally account with a bronze!!! Congratulations to this fantastic shooter."

Talking about Javed Akhtar, he had recently opened about his drinking problems in the past and how alcohol had turned him into a different person, one he now refers to as a "devil."

"Maybe there were bottled-up emotions, the anger, the bitterness. That is why after drinking, I would become quite offensive, which I’m otherwise not, nor ever was. This would never happen in my sober moments. But peeke koi ek dusra devil nikal aata tha (when I was drunk, a devil would emerge from within me)."
