Bigg Boss is synonymous with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and fans look forward to the hit reality TV show every year because of his presence.
This year, Salman Khan returned as the host of the 19th season, which premiered on August 24. 16 contestants from different walks of life—including a former child actor, a singer, an influencer, and a peace activist—entered the show.
Now there are reports that host Salman Khan has reduced his fees for hosting this season.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Salman Khan is going to charge Rs 10 crore per weekend for hosting Bigg Boss this season.
The actor will host the show for 15 weeks this time, according to Times Now.
This implies the actor will only earn Rs 150 crore for the season. Salman's earnings for hosting Bigg Boss 18 and 17 were Rs 250 crore and Rs 200 crore, respectively.
So overall it is not a pay cut as it is being seen—rather Salman Khan is hosting fewer Weekend Ka Vaar episodes, hence the pay cut.
After 15 weeks, there are reports that Farah Khan and Karan Johar will be seen as the hosts of Weekend Ka Vaar.
In the past, Farah and KJo have hosted Bigg Boss whenever Salman Khan was occupied with his other professional commitments. In fact, Karan was the host of Bigg Boss OTT season 1.
The reduction in hosting duties is the key reason behind Salman Khan's lower fees this season. Had he hosted the entire season, his remuneration would have been comparable to what he got in Bigg Boss 18.
Bigg Boss 19 features a political theme this time and it implies that public opinion will influence how the game progresses this season.
