International Emmy Awards 2025: Diljit Dosanjh misses Best Actor win as Spain’s Oriol Pla takes top honour - check out complete winners list

Diljit Dosanjh, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor at the 53rd International Emmy Awards, did not take home the trophy this year. The award went to Spain’s Oriol Pla for his widely praised role in Yo, Adicto, surpassing nominees from India, the UK and South America.

The honour went to Spain’s Oriol Pla for his acclaimed performance in Yo, Adicto, edging out strong contenders from India, the UK, and South America.

Diljit was nominated for his widely praised portrayal of Punjabi music legend Amar Singh Chamkila in Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix biopic Amar Singh Chamkila. The film, which chronicles the meteoric rise and tragic death of the folk icon, had also secured a nomination in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series category. However, the title was ultimately awarded to the UK drama Lost Boys & Fairies.

The ceremony took place on Monday, November 24, in New York City. Artists from 20+ countries competed across multiple categories. In the Best Actor segment, Diljit stood alongside nominees David Mitchell for Ludwig and Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude. Meanwhile, Amar Singh Chamkila competed against Germany’s Herrhausen: The Banker and the Bomb, Chile’s Vencer o Morir (Victory or Death), and the UK’s winning entry Lost Boys & Fairies.

Despite not taking home the trophy, Diljit created a moment of pride on the Emmy red carpet. Greeting photographers with his signature humility, the actor-singer posed in a glittering jacket paired with a crisp white shirt and classic black turban.
